  • Old Business
    • Conference in 2017, Raleigh-Durham (Duke/UNC): Updates?
    • Revisit the question of whether or not we wish to consider proposing changes to the SECOLAS constitution and/or by-laws to add graduate student members to EC.
    • This year (or in future years), we may consider proposing changes to the SECOLAS constitution and/or by-laws regarding conference organizing structure. A proposal could allow for/ would need to address:
      • If graduate students were to become official members of the Executive Committee, would they have voting privileges
      • We would also potentially need to determine how these positions would be determined: by vote of the EC, by vote of the larger membership, or by appointment from the president of SECOLAS.
        • Term limits
        • Likewise, if conference graduate students would serve on a staggered basis, to ensure “organizational memory,” continuity and coherence, at the same time that we need to ensure “new energy” and welcome new members to the EC.
    • Conference Organizing Committee/ Structure. Some of the issues to discuss:
      • We have been trying a pilot program this year. We may wish to continue with this pilot program for another year (or two).
      • This year (or in future years), we may consider proposing changes to the SECOLAS constitution and/or by-laws regarding conference organizing structure. A proposal could allow for/ would need to address
        • If the Conference Organizing Committee members should become official voting members of the Executive Committee
        • We would also potentially need to determine how these positions would be determined: by vote of the EC, by vote of the larger membership, or by appointment from the president of SECOLAS
          • Term limits

      • This year (or in future years), we may consider proposing changes to the SECOLAS constitution and/or by-laws regarding the Web-master position. A proposal could allow for/ would need to address:
        • If the Web-master should become official voting members of the Executive Committee.
        • We would also potentially need to determine how this position would be determined: by vote of the EC, by vote of the larger membership, or by appointment from the president of SECOLAS.
        • Term limit.
    • How to address EC members who are not responsive to correspondence.
